Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras reported average oil and natural gas output of 3.281 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) in the first half of the year, up 15.1% from the same period in 2025.
The company posted a record company-operated output of 3.336 million boed in the second quarter, up 14.1% year-on-year and 3.4% from the previous quarter, according to its quarterly production and sales report.
Petrobras said the increase reflected higher operational efficiency, rising output from new platforms in Brazil's offshore pre-salt fields and the start-up of additional floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) units.
Output from the country's pre-salt fields averaged 2.244 million boed in the first half, up 16.7% from a year earlier.
Between April and June, Petrobras brought 10 new production wells online in the pre-salt region, including six in the Santos Basin and four in the Campos Basin. It also started up the P-79 FPSO, the eighth production unit installed at the giant Búzios field.
The Búzios field set a new production record in June, with average output reaching 1.2 million boed, after surpassing the 1 million boed mark for the first time just eight years after commercial production began.
Including volumes produced through partnerships with other companies, Petrobras' total operated output averaged 4.757 million boed in the first half, a 16.2% increase from the same period last year.
