Oil shipments through Strait of Hormuz rise, US says

The seven-day moving average of covert oil shipments escorted by the US Navy through the Strait of Hormuz is rising and will continue to increase, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said during a meeting of the UN nuclear watchdog.

“The trend in that seven-day moving average has been upwards and will continue to rise,” Wright told a press conference.

He added that the one-day peak of 17 million barrels he cited on 1 September was in fact higher.

“There was one vessel that had not been counted. It turned out that nearly exactly 18 million barrels were shipped that day,” he said.
