Bolivia's natural gas exports to Argentina will come to an end this month, a spokesperson for Bolivia's state energy company YPFB confirmed to Reuters, following local media reports indicating that the neighboring country's exports had been halted.
Argentine media reported earlier this week that the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Cammesa) had informed that no gas imports from Bolivia had been recorded.
Bolivia’s exports, once a major regional producer, ended on September 18, although they continued to Brazil, the spokesperson said.
Energy companies in Argentina and Brazil are evaluating the possibility of exporting gas from the Vaca Muerta shale formation in southern Argentina by reversing a network of Bolivian pipelines that have carried gas south, in an effort to offset the regional deficit.
