Vaca Muerta set a new activity record this past April, according to industry sources. The number of fracturing stages reached 2,214 during the fourth month of the year, according to a report from the Fundación Contactos Energéticos.

This figure surpasses the previous all-time high by 12%, which was set in February with 1,978 fracturing stages.

In April, activity was once again led by YPF, Argentina’s largest oil and gas producer.

The report notes that YPF, which is majority-owned by the Argentine government, accounted for 42% of the activity in March, completing a total of 931 fractures.
