The Argentine government has awarded the company Transportadora de Gas del Sur (TGS) the contract for the expansion works of the “Perito Francisco Pascasio Moreno” pipeline, which will transport an additional 14 million cubic meters per day of natural gas from the massive Vaca Muerta hydrocarbon formation to the province of Buenos Aires, requiring an investment of USD 700 million.
The measure, made official in the Official Gazette, approved the national and international public tender carried out by Energía Argentina S.A. (EA) for the “contracting of the expansion of transport capacity of Section I of the ‘Perito Francisco Pascasio Moreno’ Pipeline, in order to carry out the works that will allow for an increase in natural gas transport capacity.”
The 14 million-cubic-meter increase will raise the pipeline’s total natural gas transport capacity from 21 million to 35 million cubic meters per day, according to the administration of President Javier Milei.
The expansion will include new segments between Tratayén (Neuquén) and Salliqueló (Buenos Aires), along with the construction of three compressor plants totaling 90,000 horsepower.
The project aims to ensure supply to the province of Buenos Aires and the Litoral (eastern) region, while reducing dependence on imported fuels.
The increase in transport capacity is also intended to boost new investments in Vaca Muerta, including the drilling of approximately 20 additional wells.
