Vaca Muerta achieved a new record level of activity in May, according to industry sources. The number of fracture stages in Vaca Muerta during the fifth month of the year reached 2,588, according to a report by the Fundación Contactos Energéticos.

This figure represents a 16.8% increase compared to the previous historical record, set in April, with 2,214 fracture stages.

In May, activity was once again led by YPF, Argentina’s largest oil and gas producer.

According to the report, YPF, which is controlled by the Argentine state, accounted for 51% of the activity in May, with a total of 1,333 fractures.
