Petrobras produced an average of 4.54 million barrels of oil and gas equivalent per day in the third quarter of 2025 — 17.3% more than in the same period last year, the company reported.
The result also represents an 8.0% increase compared to the previous quarter, when production reached 4.20 million barrels, according to the company’s production and sales report.
These figures include hydrocarbons extracted by the state-controlled company both in Brazil and abroad, as well as in concession areas it operates in partnership with other firms.
The quarterly growth was driven by the start-up of six new wells, four in the Santos Basin and two in the Campos Basin, Petrobras said. The company is state-controlled, but its shares are traded on the São Paulo, New York, and Madrid stock exchanges.
It was also supported by the achievement of maximum production capacity at the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré platform in the Búzios field, and by increased operational capacity at the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias platform in the Mero field, among other factors.
Additionally, the Maria Quitéria platform in the Jubarte field, Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery platforms in the Marlim and Voador fields, and the Alexandre de Gusmão platform in the Mero field are all ramping up to full operation, progressively contributing to total output growth.
In the third quarter of 2025, sales of oil derivatives in the domestic market rose 1.9% compared to the same period last year, driven by diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel.
Sales also increased 5.3% against the second quarter, mainly due to diesel, though gasoline sales fell by 0.5%.
Recently, the Brazilian state-run company obtained an environmental license to drill a deepwater well in the Atlantic Ocean, about 500 kilometers from the mouth of the Amazon River, in the Equatorial Margin, an offshore region spanning the Brazilian states of Amapá, Pará, and Maranhão.
Petrobras believes this project could become its largest asset in terms of reserves.
In the first half of the year, the company posted a net profit of 61.861 billion reais (approximately US $11.4 billion / €9.8 billion), representing a 193.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Petrobras will release its third-quarter 2025 financial results on November 6.
